Ethiopia

Launched in 2023 with the support of the Mastercard Foundation, CorpsAfrica/Ethiopia aims to empower local communities through youth-led initiatives. Known as the “Cradle of Humanity”, Ethiopia is rich in history, having yielded some of the oldest human remains ever discovered. Situated in the Horn of Africa, the country boasts a vibrant tapestry of diverse ethnic groups, languages, and religions, making it a unique landscape for community development. Ethiopia is the second most populous country in Africa, with its high population being youth and facing a high unemployment rate.

CorpsAfrica/Ethiopia is shifting Ethiopia’s development sector from reliance on external aid to empowering and strengthening its most valuable asset: its people. CorpsAfrica/Ethiopia educates young Africans to help local communities identify and solve their challenges.

Through our programs, CorpsAfrica/Ethiopia Volunteers are trained and posted to live in remote villages throughout Ethiopia for up to one year to facilitate small-scale, high-impact projects that are identified by local people while promoting the professional and personal development of young men and women through expert training and a transformative Volunteer experience, creating work opportunities and inspire a strong pan-African community.

Volunteer in Ethiopia

CorpsAfrica recruits ambitious young people to apply their education, build their critical thinking and problem-solving skills, and learn more about their countries and about themselves. They facilitate small-scale, high-impact projects identified by local community members, to fulfill key needs.

We expect to begin accepting applications for the next cohort in early 2025.

Support Our Work

CorpsAfrica addresses two of Africa’s most difficult challenges: creating opportunities for youth and helping rural communities overcome extreme poverty and build resilience. We recruit motivated volunteers to live and work in remote, low-income areas in their own countries. They collaborate with the community to design and implement small-scale projects that address their top priorities and by doing so gain the skills and experience that lay the foundation for personal and professional success.

CorpsAfrica trusts youth and rural communities to help each other.
