Women Power

This month, we got to celebrate Mother’s Day. I got to celebrate a special group of women in my community. Their steadfast efforts and contribution to driving a positive change within our community are evident. They have an unwavering commitment to community development. They have come together to contribute resources towards our community project.

One of the most tangible examples of women’s contribution to my community project was their involvement in digging pit latrines. During the community contribution, the women rolled up their sleeves and got to work.  With determination etched on their faces and shovels in hand, they labored tirelessly under the scorching sun, digging deep to lay the foundation for a healthier, more hygienic school. Despite the physical demands and challenges posed by the task, their spirit remained unbroken, fueled by a shared vision of a better Mwambani primary.

Beyond this tangible contribution, the women also came together to clear bushes around the school perimeter for easier fencing. Not only did they do this, they brought posts, dug holes, and installed the posts. Isn’t that valuable? I now believe women are forebearers of community empowerment.

As we continue to celebrate women and honor their efforts, let us amplify their voices. Ensuring they take leadership roles and participate fully in decision-making. Let us be champions of gender equality and inclusion. Empower a woman, and change the world.
