Silver Lining

If someone had told me that I would become a school teacher at some point in my life, I would have never believed them, no matter how many alternate realities there may be ( Spiderman’s multiverse 😁).

Yet, here I am, not only teaching but fully committed to the profession to the extent that I would need to be torn limb from limb to be separated from my students.

I found the school with student tablets gathering dust in the store with no one to teach the kids computers. I felt it as a calling, like starting with a newborn until it fully matures.

We have been learning together how to do simple things like changing the background photos, and it has been amazing to see how much joy it brought to my students. It made me realize how much we take for granted.

There was a moment when I taught them how to take a photo with the tablet, and I had to stop teaching after 10 minutes to let them soak in the wonder and awe for the remaining 30 minutes. It was such a new and exciting experience for them, and I didn’t want to spoil their excitement

It’s in such moments that I feel my joy complete. I may never put down on paper how good the students feel about being on the journey to computer literacy because at times the best moments can’t be captured.

Every time I enter the classroom to introduce a new concept, I feel fulfilled. Introducing new concepts to my students, I am confident that someday they will remember it was I who shared my knowledge with them. This is what motivates me to wake up every morning, eager to make someone’s dream come true, just as mine was fulfilled long ago.

And the constant giggly greetings while I walk around the Community of “Hallo Teacher!” is just the icing on top.
