My Journey Is Not Yet Over

My journey is not yet over but I have much to share. Stepping into an under-resourced community, I was met with challenges that seemed insurmountable. Yet, through the lens of Human-Centered Design (HCD) and Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD), I discovered a wealth of untapped potential. When I first embarked on my journey with CorpsAfrica, I had no prior experience with HCD or ABCD. However, the space and resources provided by CorpsAfrica offered me a golden opportunity to learn and grow. It was an invitation to step out of my comfort zone and into the realm of possibility.

Working within an under-resourced society presented its fair share of challenges. Resources were scarce, and the sense of despair often loomed large. But armed with the principles of HCD and ABCD, I began to see these challenges as opportunities for innovation and collaboration. Rather than focusing solely on what was lacking, I started to identify and leverage the existing strengths and assets within the community. I witnessed a remarkable transformation within myself. My resilience grew stronger, as each obstacle became a stepping stone towards progress. I began to recognize the power of local knowledge and the collective strength of communities coming together to drive change. The notion of ‘local helping local’ ceased to be a mere concept and became a living reality.  With each passing day, I am filled with a sense of pride for the person I am becoming and the communities I am privileged to serve. Through the lens of HCD and ABCD, I see a future brimming with possibilities. I envision vibrant communities where every individual is empowered to realize their full potential. CorpsAfrica has not only equipped me with the tools for change but has also instilled in me a profound belief in the transformative power of community-led development.

My journey with HCD and ABCD in an under-resourced society has been nothing short of transformative. What began as a leap of faith has evolved into a journey of self-discovery and empowerment. I urge every young person to seize the opportunity offered by CorpsAfrica, for within its embrace lies the potential to effect meaningful change. Together, let us continue to harness the power of innovation, collaboration, and community to create a brighter future for all.
