Training
CorpsAfrica’s training program centers on the personal and professional development of Volunteers to prepare them for a year of Volunteer service and for their lives and careers beyond it. We are focused on developing the next generation of African leaders with the skills and mindsets to make a difference in communities across the continent. Our unique program–built on best practices from the fields of education, psychology, and community development–includes training in:
- Empathy
- Problem-solving
- Leadership
- Service
- Adaptability
- Communication
- Humility
- Teamwork
- Resilience
Practical, hands-on, small-group work is at the heart of our training program. Volunteers practice the skills they are learning–and get the coaching, support and mentorship of our staff in order to continue to grow and develop them further. This experiential learning approach shines through in our community-based training where Volunteers work alongside community members using their skills in integration, community building, public speaking, facilitation, human-centered design, and asset-based community development.
