Bulere Horticulture Project aims to facilitate small-scale rural producers, mainly youth and women, to increase their incomes by improving the yield and quality of their horticultural products. The project trains participants in best practices for horticulture, agriculture and group entrepreneurship development. The project enables setting up horticulture gardens and seed multiplication sites of vegetables such as tomatoes, watermelons, carrots and cabbage. The project emphasizes building a brand value and market to enable participants get clients who purchase in bulk. The project adopts a mentoring approach to effectively reach the most vulnerable people within its target areas. Moreover, participants mobilise weekly savings to grow their investment capital. The project will improve local governance to promote the active involvement of communities in a participatory monitoring and evaluation system.
CorpsAfrica addresses two of Africa’s most difficult challenges: engaging youth and helping rural communities overcome extreme poverty. We recruit and train motivated volunteers to live and work in rural, under-resourced areas in their own countries. They collaborate with the community to design and implement small-scale projects that address their top priorities and, by doing so, gain the skills and experience that lay the foundation for personal and professional success.
CorpsAfrica trusts youth and communities to help each other.
