Olivia Viola is a development communicator passionate about community building and empowerment through participatory arts. She recently graduated from the University of Malawi with a Bachelor of Arts in Media for Development with a credit. Before joining CorpsAfrica as a volunteer, Olivia worked with ArtGlo under the Students with Dreams leadership program Zamuntima Sizawekha, where she facilitated a project that focused on mental health awareness among the youth by using different artistic forms. As a student, Olivia co-produced and hosted the UNIMA eye radio magazine program, which addressed many issues affecting students at the University of Malawi. She also co-produced a documentary project, ‘Careers and Expectations,’ which advocated for students’ career diversity. In addition, Olivia has also worked with SeedCo Malawi as a merchandiser gaining valuable experience in marketing as an individual; Olivia is passionate about writing and interior decoration. As a writer, she strives to utilise her work to advocate for youth-friendly policies in the country. She believes that CorpsAfrica will help her gain hands-on experience in implementing projects that uplift and empower rural communities in Malawi.
