Edwin Tinega is a dedicated and adaptable professional specializing in disaster management, climate change, and humanitarian assistance. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Disaster Management and International Diplomacy from Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology, where he graduated with Second Class Honors Upper Division. He is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Disaster Management and Humanitarian Assistance at the same institution. Additionally, Edwin has earned professional certificates in Gender and Human Rights from AIRADS College, WASH in Emergencies from Meru University, and a Certificate in Counselling Psychology from Amani Counseling Centre and Training Institute. He also earned several certificates from KAYA and IFRC.
Edwin’s career has been shaped by significant experience in the humanitarian sector. He worked with the International Rescue Committee (Samburu County) as GBV Prevention where he engaged in psychosocial first aid, community outreaches and engagements, case management, and development of IEC materials among many roles. His time as a Volunteer at the Kenya Red Cross (Samburu Branch) further honed his expertise in disaster management, humanitarian assistance, need assessments, Gender Violence, and Environment Conservation. During his industrial attachment with the Samburu County Government’s Department of Special Programs, Edwin contributed to Disaster management, climate change, peace, and conflict resolution efforts.
His skills in humanitarian assistance, fire safety, disaster management, and conflict resolution are complemented by his ability to establish strong working relationships across all levels of an organization. Edwin has facilitated critical workshops on Gender-Based Violence, Peace, and Natural Resources Management and participated in high-level conferences, including those focused on Nature-Based Solutions for Disaster Risk Reduction and as well Global Politics.
Edwin is also a life member of the Kenya Red Cross and an active participant in the Disaster Management and Environmental Association as well as the World Peace Ambassadors. His passion for helping communities in crisis continues to drive his professional and academic pursuits.
