Grace Sichinga is an advocate for youth and women’s participation in the development and improvement of their communities. She loves all things arts and crafts and tries to apply this resourceful skill in what she does. Prior to being a CorpsAfrica Volunteer, Grace worked as an Economics Teacher at Kamuzu Academy. From 2019 to 2020, Grace worked as the Project Lead with a local youth organization, Forum for AIDS Counseling and Training (FACT) at the Lilongwe branch. The project aimed at reducing girls’ school dropout rates through economic empowerment and menstrual health and hygiene management training. While at FACT, she also worked as a Project Officer on a project that focused on community sensitization of gender-based violence, psychosocial support, child protection, and reporting protocols. Grace graduated with a Bachelor’s in Social Science majoring in Economics from the University of Malawi. While in university, she was a co-founder of a student-led project called Pamthuzi, which aimed at fostering awareness and insight into social issues as well as critical thinking and creative solutions amongst the youth. She later worked as a mentor to fellow students who were implementing student-led community projects.
