Mary Sheila Sichali is enthusiastic about community development, women and youth
empowerment, and education, especially girl child education. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in
Business Communication, obtained from the University of Malawi, The Polytechnic. Mary has
gained one year and eleven months of experience in the field of teaching. She worked with Miracle
Technical Institute as a Communication Tutor, where she was actively involved in the process of
delivering business communication lessons to the students pursuing vocational courses. During
the period she worked with Miracle Technical Institute as a teacher, she also had an opportunity to
interact with the youth from a various background in Malawi. Through the interactions, she
discovered that there are gaps that need to be filled to invest in the future of the youth. This
motivated her to develop a strong passion for youth empowerment. In addition, Mary is the last born
in a family of six children, two girls, and four boys. She grew up in one of the remote areas in
Karonga. The challenges she encountered as she was growing up, drove her keen passion for
community development and education. Mary is eager to actively engage in the process of shaping
the future of the next generations through development, empowerment, and education.
Mary is very excited about the life-transforming opportunity with CorpsAfrica. She believes the
experience with CorpsAfrica will play a great role in ushering her toward her aspirations in the
field of community development and developing her professionally even in other sectors.
