My name is Daniel Yamikani Samuel, I reside in Chinsapo 1, T/A Malali, Lilongwe. I hold a
Bachelor of Social Science degree in Social Work. I am deeply passionate about youth
empowerment, particularly because many young people in Malawi face limited employment
opportunities and often feel undermined. I have worked with the youth through initiatives like
Skillz Achipa and Coaching Boys into Men, aiming to reduce school dropouts, early marriages,
and teenage pregnancies.
I have also engaged in community efforts through the SASA Faith Initiative, collaborating with
community members, religious leaders, and local authorities to mitigate gender-based violence,
early marriages, and teenage pregnancies. Furthermore, I have formulated and facilitated peer
support groups for guardians of children living with cancer, conducted play therapy for these
children, and provided psychosocial counseling.
My passion for environmental preservation has led me to participate in cleaning initiatives in
Zomba with WESM and Lessons in Conservations. I was recognized with a certificate from
Lessons in Conservation for my role as a volunteer responsible for managing finances and teaching
children about environmental preservation.
Having completed CorpsAfrica’s Pre-Service Training, I believe the skills and knowledge I gained
will be invaluable in community engagement and promoting sustainable development. My
dedication to personal growth and empowering those around me makes me a valuable asset to
CorpsAfrica. As I prepare to join the 2024/2025 cohort, I am excited to bring my experiences and
commitment to service to new communities.
