Sibongile Nyirenda holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biotechnology from Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources (LUANAR), and an advanced diploma in Information Technology: Systems Support from Malawi Polytechnic Continuing Education Centre. She has had several information technology and data entry-related positions with the Dedza District Council, World Vision Malawi, and the National Registration Bureau (NRB). She sees herself as an agriculturist because of her graduate internship experiences in the agriculture sector under the departments of animal health and livestock production, fisheries, and crop development. She dreams of owning a farm one day that will create job opportunities and will teach and engage communities to adopt agricultural diversification for sustenance, resilience, and commercialization. She believes her service as a CorpsAfrica Volunteer is one big step in learning from the community and offering her knowledge and expertise.
