Wonderful Mudolo is a 23-year-old Malawian. He is a holder of a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Economics from the Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources (LUANAR). He served as an African volunteer in the sixth cohort in Zomba, the southern region of Malawi. During his service, he won two grants from CorpsAfrica and Friends of Malawi UK (FOMA) amounting to 2747 USD to support the construction of six pit latrine toilets and a girls’ changing room at Makoka primary school. He worked with his community to identify the project and successfully facilitated its implementation to improve the sanitation and hygiene of 1922 pupils at the school. Through the CorpsAfrica green initiative, he facilitated a tree planting exercise that involved planting 460 trees at Chimwalira and Gologota primary schools. Before joining CorpsAfrica, he served as an economist intern at the Economic Planning and Development under the Ministry of Finance and Economic Affairs. During the internship, he assisted in collecting project and program data, appraising projects according to the Public Sector Investment Programme (PSIP), and preparing work plans and budgets for the section among others. In 2019, he worked as a field officer intern at Lusubilo Community Orphan Care. As an Exchange Volunteer at CorpsAfrica/Senegal, he looks forward to serving and impacting his community to solve their problems, concurrently, strengthening bonds of solidarity among Africans. He believes serving as an Exchange Volunteer is a great opportunity for him to advance his intercultural competencies, promote pan-Africanism, and most importantly improve the well-being of people in rural communities.
