Sembe graduated from the University of Livingstonia with a Bachelor’s in Human Rights; she is passionate about empowering young women and girls through educational programs. Since 2017, she has volunteered for Light Her Path Organisation in mentoring young adolescent girls in building their skills and leadership in Ekwendeni, Mzimba district. She has also worked as a junior researcher for Social Impact 360 International for the documentation of the Nhanga as a feminist Intergenerational space in Southern Africa. She has worked for the Malawi Human Rights Commission as a Disability and Elderly Rights intern. She is the 2022 Malawi delegate for Fora Network for Change and a Malawi SheLeader for African Matters Initiative. Sembe is a Co-founder of the Women and Health Association of Malawi, which raises awareness of cervical cancer among women and girls in Malawi. She hopes her service as a CorpsAfrica Volunteer will help empower young women and girls in Malawi.
