Meet Aster Merga: Born in the Oromia Region, she is a passionate advocate for her community and the environment. She earned her degree in Applied Biology from Dire Dawa University and went on to complete a master’s in Public Health. Her dedication to gender equality shines through her MSc thesis, which focused on knowledge and attitude toward Gender Equality and associated factors among selected High School Students in 2023.
As an activist, Aster is deeply committed to climate change action, environmental protection, sustainable community development, gender equality, and women’s empowerment. She has actively worked within the Oromia community, leading initiatives to combat climate change by planting trees and organizing environmental clean-ups.
Currently, Aster is a Cohort One Volunteer with CorpsAfrica/Ethiopia, where she continues to make a positive impact and drive change.
