Kate McLetchie-Sheldon serves as an Operations Advisor for CorpsAfrica where she collaborates with the executive and operations teams on initiatives to strategically grow and expand the organization’s reach and impact. Before joining CorpsAfrica, Kate served as the chief operating officer at the Waterfront Alliance for nearly eight years, and previous to this was the organization’s director of communications and development for two years. In her roles, she led finance, human resources, and government contracts, as well as spearheaded several key initiatives, including strategic planning and a complete rebranding of the organization.
Before joining the Waterfront Alliance, Kate spent a decade in international development, managing and raising funds for environmental and community development programs in Morocco, Tanzania, and Afghanistan. She holds a Master of Science in marine and atmospheric sciences from Stony Brook University and a Bachelor of Arts in Biology from Wheaton College, Massachusetts. She is an alumna of The Maritime Studies Program of Williams College and Mystic Seaport. She is a Certified Nonprofit Accounting Professional, having completed both the Essentials and Advanced certification programs through BDO.
Kate served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Morocco (2001-2003) and was a founding board member of CorpsAfrica. She is thrilled to be back supporting the dedicated staff and Volunteers as they create transformative change across Africa.
