Gilbert Mbonimpa was born and raised in Rwanda. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Network and Communication Systems from Adventist University of Central Africa (AUCA) and a Diploma in Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering from Rwanda Polytechnic RP/IPRC KIGALI. Before his current role with CorpsAfrica/Senegal as an Exchange Volunteer, Gilbert served as a Volunteer with CorpsAfrica/Rwanda, where he initiated different initiatives and development projects that created jobs for 50 youths in the Musanze district. He was previously Head of Communication at the East African Community Youth Ambassadors Platform, where he gained valuable experience in Communication and Leadership, which is essential for youth advocacy and advancing youth empowerment and sustainable development goals. Gilbert has participated in various training programs, including a Continental Bootcamp on Youth Inclusion in Socio-Economic Development and Policy Formulation in Africa (December 2022) and Cyber Security Training focused on Tackling Hate Speech and Digital Safety (February 2023). His professional experience also includes a role as an IT Officer at Pisconetworks. During his university years, he was an active member and President of the Rise and Talk Gavel club, affiliated with Toastmasters International. Gilbert believes that “no one is safe until everyone is safe.” He advocates strongly for youth and women’s empowerment as an essential component of achieving security and sustainable development for all.
