Boubker Mazoz has over 40 years of experience in exchanges between Morocco and the rest of the world in the fields of education, culture, business, and intercultural learning. From 1979 to 2010 he worked for the US Department of State as a resource manager, Library Director, and Public Affairs Specialist with the Public Affairs and Public Diplomacy section of the US Embassy in Morocco. Mazoz has initiated and organized an impressive number of programs and exchanges for individuals, groups, and institutions representing different backgrounds and fields of interest. After he retired from DoS, he served as Chief of Staff and head of the cabinet of the Moroccan Minister of Handicrafts and Social and Solidarity Economy from 2013 to 2015. Aside from his official government positions, Mazoz has been heavily involved in NGO and non-profit work. He founded, initiated, and is an active member of numerous NGOs. He was a member of the International Executive Board of Directors of Sister Cities International in Washington DC (2006-2009) and is currently a member of its Honorary Board and the representative and envoy of the organization in North Africa. Mazoz was the Project Director of STEAMuseum, a virtual exchange program between HS students in Casablanca and Chicago, and of the Basketball Experience with NBA and AFD. He is the Founder and President of Sister Cities Africa, Sister Cities Casablanca Chicago Association, and the “Neighborhoods Association IDMAJ” which became “The Idmaj Foundation for Development. In 1982, he created the Moroccan American Circle (MAC) for US graduates and the Moroccan Intercultural Association (AIM) for former AFS exchange students to the US. In 2008, he founded Lighthouse for the Blind and VIP. In 2022, he created the US-Former Foreign Service National Employees Association. Mazoz is a founding member of several Rotary Clubs in Casablanca, Vice President of Corps Africa Maroc, and VP of the Salmia Center of Rehabilitation of the Handicapped. In addition, he is the CEO of Boubker Mazoz Cultural Center in Sidi Moumen which he created in 2006, Idmaj Community Center in Ain Sebaa in 2017, and Idmaj Cultural and Community Center of Proximity also in Sidi Moumen in 2021. Mazoz’s work and dedication have been recognized by many governments, national, and International organizations and his work was covered by major national and international news outlets, including MSNBC, ABC, Time Magazine, New York Times, the National, Vogue Magazine, Jeune Afrique, MarianAgence France Press as well as the national Moroccan press.
