Loice Masicha is a volunteer at CorpsAfrica/Kenya with a professional interest in community development. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Sociology from Chuka University. Her goal is to use her interdisciplinary knowledge and experience to engage society in addressing various social issues by implementing practical and sustainable solutions that benefit the community. Previously, she volunteered at an NGO called Africomm Development Center in Chuka, where she supported initiatives such as youth empowerment and programs to address period poverty; this involved raising awareness about menstrual health and mobilizing resources to ensure girls in schools had access to menstrual products. Additionally, she actively participated in climate change initiatives by leading tree-planting campaigns to enhance biodiversity and reduce carbon emissions. Loice is passionate about advocating for community participation in development. She believes communities are best equipped to understand their issues and drive their development. She aims to collaborate with communities, institutions, and other change-makers to bring positive change. She is an open-minded individual eager to learn about the culture and language of different communities. She hopes that her experience at CorpsAfrica/Kenya will help her develop further skills in community-led development and maximizing the community’s resources.
