Martha Kwataine is a health and human rights activist from Malawi. In October 2006, she founded the Malawi Health Equity Network (MHEN) and became its executive director. MHEN is an independent alliance of organizations and individuals promoting equity and quality in healthcare, based in Lilongwe, the capital of Malawi. In 2012, she moved to Washington D.C. to lobby the US government for help and support. In the same year, she was selected by former President Joyce Banda as the board chair of the Malawi Communications Regulatory Authority (MACRA). In 2015, she worked with Action Aid and Baobab Health Trust (BHT) to ensure that Malawian hospitals had electronic medical records. However, their biggest donor pulled out, causing challenges. George Jobe succeeded her as the Executive Director of MHEN. In October 2020, Martha Kwataine became the presidential advisor of the Civil Society Organization.
