Maria Kadango is a dedicated nurse midwife with a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing and
Midwifery from Kamuzu University of Health Sciences. She is passionate about
improving healthcare access, particularly for women and young people, aligning her
efforts with Sustainable Development Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being) and SDG 5
(Gender Equality). Maria has extensive experience providing Sexual and Reproductive
Health and Rights (SRHR) services, including HIV/AIDS care, through her work with the
Family Planning Association of Malawi. She has been instrumental in supporting women
and youth in underserved communities. Her professional journey also includes
managing operations at Mediplus Investments, where she honed her leadership and
management skills in a healthcare setting. Maria’s diverse background in both clinical
and managerial roles has given her a well-rounded perspective on the challenges and
opportunities within Malawi’s healthcare system. As an ALX alum, Maria is committed
to continuous learning and professional growth. She recently completed CorpsAfrica’s
six-week Pre-Service Training and will serve as a Volunteer in Tambala, Mulanje District,
for 10 months, where she looks forward to empowering rural communities and
continuing her mission of improving healthcare delivery.
