Esther Gunsalu is a committed nutrition and food scientist from Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources(LUANAR), focused on enhancing the health of women and children. She has had the opportunity to present her undergraduate research at the 2023 Nutrition Congress in South Africa and at Kamuzu University’s first Research Dissemination Conference, where the research abstract was published in the Malawi Medical Journal. At Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital’s Nutrition Rehabilitation Unit (NRU), Esther worked closely with malnourished children, providing hands-on care and educating mothers about nutrition and sanitation. In addition, she served as a research assistant at the Center for Agricultural Research and Development (CARD), sharpening her skills in data collection and analysis for agricultural and nutrition projects, and as a nutrition officer(Intern) with Blantyre District Health Office, implementing nutrition programs across communities. Her internship with GIZ’s Food and Nutrition Security program focused on promoting resilience and imparting knowledge among pregnant and lactating women. With certificates in project monitoring and evaluation as well as the use of the food composition tables, Esther is excited and eager to continue her journey with CorpsAfrica, contributing to the health and well-being of communities and fostering sustainable community development.
