Miriam Akataandem Gbedemah is an Educational Psychologist from the University of Cape Coast. While in school, she served as the DESAG UCC Northern Regional president. She draws on her passion for community development and has contributed to projects such as Alinea Ghana’s WEE-NORTH project which seeks to empower women in industrial trades in the northern region of Ghana. Again, Miriam played a key role in the Youth Opportunity and Transformation in Africa’s Youth on Board project, which ensures that critical issues of access to quality education that have been escalated by the COVID-19 pandemic receive increased attention and investment. Lastly, she has passionately worked with her fellows on the Young Urban Women’s Program (ActionAid, Bono), one that seeks to achieve Economic Security and Equitable Distribution of Unpaid Care Work. She’s a child protection and mental health awareness enthusiast and strongly believes that lasting change starts from within.
