Leodegard DUSENGE was born in Musanze District in Rwanda’s Northern Province and is a skilled agricultural professional with a Bachelor’s Degree in Crop Production from the University of Technology and Arts of Byumba (UTAB). He began his professional journey as a Farm Manager at the Center of Agroecology Practices and Conservation of Nature (CAPCN) in Gicumbi District. He gained valuable experience working with smallholder farmers, focusing on sustainable and organic farming practices. Leodegard helped farmers enhance soil fertility, pest control, and crop productivity using eco-friendly methods, improving both their livelihoods and environmental sustainability. His deep understanding of the challenges faced by small-scale farmers allowed him to tailor training sessions that addressed their specific needs, contributing to long-term community development. Beyond his work at CAPCN, Leodegard has also contributed to national research projects as an enumerator for various national surveys, including post-harvest equipment value chain assessments and the National Institute of Statistics of Rwanda’s 2023 establishment census. Furthering his commitment to community development, Leodegard believes in the transformative power of community engagement and resilience. He is committed to empowering farmers with knowledge, believing that change should come from within and that development is in the hands of the people themselves. He strives to uplift rural communities and ensure long-term food security across the region.
