Tawonga Chingaphonya is a dedicated professional with a background in Electrical and
Telecommunications Engineering, holding a degree from the Malawi University of Business and
Applied Sciences. Currently serving as a Volunteer with CorpsAfrica, Tawonga is passionate about
contributing to meaningful change within communities, particularly through STEM initiatives and
sustainable development projects.
Her career is marked by a blend of technical expertise and leadership, having previously interned at
Malawi Telecommunications Limited, where she gained hands-on experience in network
operations, customer service, and the installation and maintenance of transmission systems.
Tawonga’s drive for innovation is evident through her various projects, including the development
of a smart microgrid metering system aimed at promoting sustainable energy usage.
Before joining CorpsAfrica, she also worked as a Sales Executive at HG Communications, where
she honed her skills in client relations and strategic business development.
In addition to her technical skills, Tawonga excels in public speaking, teamwork, and project
management. She has participated in numerous conferences, including Malawi’s first Space
Conference, and earned recognition for her achievements in both academic and extracurricular
pursuits, such as her involvement with WomEng, a platform promoting women in engineering.
With a strong foundation in both technical and interpersonal skills, Tawonga is eager to leverage
her knowledge and passion to empower communities, particularly through her volunteer work with
CorpsAfrica, where she continues to make a lasting impact.
