Madalitso Chimpeni is an innovator, entrepreneur, and sustainable energy enthusiast with four years of experience working in the sustainable energy sector. He has a BSc in Biotechnology and a certificate in Development Entrepreneurship, focusing on Off-energy. In the past four years, he has worked with different organizations in promoting briquettes, biogas, ethanol gel, and clean cookstoves for clean cooking. He has collaborated with experts from the University of Surrey and Portsmouth to design a project centered on the production and distribution of BIOCNG (purified biogas) commercially. He also worked with a local CBO in Mwanza district to introduce briquette production as an alternative to charcoal for cooking in households. He recently developed the Helix Wind Turbine with partners from Argentina, a novel technology for generating electricity in rural areas. With this innovation, he has won the Malawi Innovators Design Competition (MIDC) and the CIMPAD Youth Entrepreneurship and Innovation Award.
