Yankho Chikosa is enthusiastic, hardworking, and passionate about working with vulnerable and marginalized groups, especially children. From a young age, she has been very passionate about mental health and consistently advocates for good mental well-being. She loves reading, journaling, listening to music, connecting with people, and playing different kinds of sports and gaming activities. Yankho holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work and has always been interested in working with different groups of people. Because of this keen interest, she interned at the Chikwawa District Community Development Office as a Community development officer. She also worked as a social work intern at Aquaid Lifeline Malawi where she worked directly with orphans and vulnerable children, rehabilitating street children by placing them under the care of the organization. This included a lot of psycho-social counseling. Yankho also worked at Kukalanga Health Center in Mangochi under the ART/HIV testing and counseling services and at St John Nutritional Centre in Mangochi as a health care provider. She believes every child has a right to good physical and mental health, including a loving and supportive home. Yankho has always been driven to help people and derives a sense of fulfillment when she is being of service to others. She believes being a CorpsAfrica Volunteer will broaden her horizons and help her learn new perspectives whilst enhancing her knowledge, and experience and developing new skills. It is one thing to dream of change but to be part of the change is what sets the tone for future generations.
