Prosper Grace Chikapa is a young lady who holds a Bachelor of Social Science in Social Work minoring in Community Development from The Catholic University of Malawi (2021). She has practical skills and knowledge in Gender Violence Case Management obtained from the Umunthu Foundation, Data Collection skills from Mulanje and Blantyre District Councils, Psychosocial Therapy and Counselling Skills obtained from Kachere Rehabilitation Center, and Community Development Facilitation skills obtained from Circle for Integrated Community Development (CICOD). Recently, she acquired knowledge and skills in Asset Based Community Development (ABCD) and Human Centred Design (HCD) from CorpsAfrica Pre-Service Training and Community Based Training.
Prosper is more passionate about the well-being of Vulnerable groups, be it children, the elderly, people with disabilities, women, and girls. These groups are at a very high risk for poor Physical, Psychological, and Social Health in the communities they live in. Using ABCD/HCD approaches to Community Development, She will be able to empower the groups of people that are considered to be powerless by the majority by helping them discover their capabilities. In the long run, helping vulnerable groups become independent and self-reliant.
As she is now venturing into the ‘CorpsAfrica Volunteer journey’ she is more excited as she will now be able to practice all the knowledge and skills that she acquired throughout and that she will be able to bring some positive impacts to the community that she will be serving. She is expecting to learn a new culture, meet new people, and grow both personally and professionally.
