Miji Bell has spent her entire career in the communications industry developing
organizational strategies that have successfully positioned nonprofit and for-profit
entities for greater public visibility. She recently served as a senior consultant to a host
of nonprofit organizations supporting their media relations, community development,
and fundraising initiatives. Prior, she held leadership roles in communications and
marketing at several major universities in the U.S. including Duke, Johns Hopkins, North
Carolina Central, and Princeton. Miji also has extensive public policy expertise, both
domestically and internationally. She served as Vice President of Communications for
TNTP, a leading nonprofit that makes state and federal policy recommendations in
support of America’s public school system. She also served as Director of Media
Relations for the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities in Washington, DC, a
nonpartisan think tank that works closely with elected officials and other advocates to
advance federal policies that promote economic justice and reduce structural barriers in
local communities. Prior, she served as Director of Communications for Global Refuge
(formerly Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service), an international NGO that
supports the resettlement of refugees, migrants, and asylum seekers. Miji has also
worked closely with NGOs in Ghana, Liberia, South Africa, and other African nations to
support sustainable development, establish programs for youth and women, develop
campaign strategies, and advance public-private partnerships across the Continent.
She has also advised nonprofit and corporate leaders on the best
practices for developing operational models that strengthen communications strategy,
advance their international presence, and diversify economic investments in Africa.
