Magatte, a driven and ambitious young Senegali, embarked on a transformative journey with CorpsAfrica/Senegal in 2021/2022. Eager to broaden his horizons, he chose to extend his learning adventure by serving as an exchange Volunteer in Rwanda. With a huge interest in resilience and sustainable development, Magatte’s experience in Rwanda deepened his understanding of this field, aligning closely with his academic pursuits at the university.
“This experience has fueled my passion and enriched my knowledge and skills in sustainability, empowering me to spearhead sustainable projects and bolster community resilience,” reflects Magatte.
Equipped with newfound expertise in leadership, communication, and community engagement gained through his service with CorpsAfrica, Magatte’s journey took an exciting turn in 2024 when he was selected to participate in the prestigious Community Engagement Exchange program (CEE). As the sole representative from Senegal in the fellowship, Magatte seized the opportunity to further immerse himself in the realms of resilience and sustainable development. He was subsequently placed with Groundwork Denver in Colorado.
“I consider myself fortunate to be part of this fellowship and to collaborate with Groundwork Denver, a nonprofit organization dedicated to enhancing project management, addressing climate change, and fostering community development,” Magatte stated.
Viewing his participation in the international program as a catalyst for both professional and personal growth, Magatte is driven by a profound desire to give back to his community on a grand scale. He envisions actively engaging in addressing the multi-faceted challenges of climate change and advocating for the implementation of global policies within Senegalese communities. As a young leader committed to igniting positive change in his homeland, Magatte aspires to play a pivotal role in fostering sustainable governance and pioneering innovative solutions to local challenges.
