Meet Our Alums: Hasna Farid

Hasna Farid is a young Moroccan entrepreneur who served in the community of Tizi Zgaght, Azzaden Valley with CorpsAfrica/Maroc in 2018-2019.

Hasna has a strong attachment to her Amazigh identity and she is amazed by her ancient culture including pottery, tattooing, jewelry making, and handmade carpets. She creates products that contribute to the revival of this authentic culture by using its beautiful symbols and authentic Amazigh patterns in designing clothes that blend between originality and modernity.

What motivated her more in the project was her upbringing with a mother and father who were engaged in sewing, she fell in love with this craft and began to sneak into their workshop where she started designing and sewing her clothes from a very early age. Despite leaving this field during her academic and professional journey, it was during her time volunteering with CorpsAfrica and serving in the High Atlas community that she truly discovered her passion. Here, she founded a women’s cooperative for weaving carpets, reigniting her motivation to pursue both her hobby and her profession.

Therefore, Hasna launched her initiative “Tithrit Mood” as a fashion brand with an Amazigh twist, specializing in traditional Amazigh styles, and launched her first fashion collection on February 13, 2022.

“Each collection was an inspiration of an Amazigh region, starting from Tata, with documentation of the traditional costume of each region to introduce it to the world through my social media platforms”.

In 2022, Hasna won the title of the best content creator on the Moroccan web in the category of fashion and beauty organized by the Moroccan Web Award initiative. Through her initiative, she aims to contribute to the development of the traditional industry sector in the region, specifically in the field of fashion and traditional clothing, as she seeks to make Amazigh culture known by blending modern design with the Amazigh touch while providing innovative fashion designs that help attract and retain new customers.

Celebrating the new Amazigh year (2024 / 2974) in Morocco, Hasna was invited by the Moroccan national TV to showcase her venture products and tell her story. Her participation in the show was very successful.

“Being invited to showcase my venture products on a TV show filled me with pride and provided the psychological boost needed to persevere through market challenges”.

In February 2024, Hasna was selected by the CorpsAfrica Alumni Network to benefit from the Entrepreneurship and Incubator that will allow her to grow her project and expand its impact.

“This opportunity will not only support me financially to sustain and grow my venture but help me expand my network and unleash my potential”.
