Ali Bâ, originally from the Dakar Region, specifically from the municipality of Sébikotane in Rufisque, is a specialist in children’s rights, family sociology, and education at Gaston Berger University (UGB) in Saint Louis, Senegal. His professional journey is focused on community development. From September 2022 to August 2023, he served as a facilitator for the “Yokkou Koom-Koom” project in the Louga region (Gandé municipality). His role involved training women who were beneficiaries of the Family Security Grant (BSF) in the establishment of Village/Community Savings and Credit Associations (AVEC/ACEC). He was also responsible for coordinating training sessions on life skills and micro-entrepreneurship, coaching these women in the creation and management of Income-Generating Activities (AGR).
Between 2019 and 2021, Ali extensively worked on women’s rights, particularly domestic workers, in collaboration with the Center for Research on Economic, Social, and Cultural Rights (CRADESC). He also focused on the issue of child beggars, known as talibés, and their connection to Arabic-Islamic education in Senegal, working alongside the Institute of Research for Development (IRD). His master’s research centered on this issue, and his doctoral thesis is currently underway.
Now a Volunteer Exchange Volunteer at CorpsAfrica/Rwanda, Ali continues his commitment to enhancing the well-being of Rwandan communities.
