Project Overview

Given its geographical positioning, Asflala does not have sufficient access to productive entertainment or learning resources, despite high public interest. This especially harms children who express a passion for reading and learning in general. During collaborative meetings with the community, Soukaina noticed that the local women clearly expressed their desire to create a suitable space for literacy classes. To create a space such as this, the community, with a heavy input from mothers, identified the Asflala Creative Space Project because they understood the need to strengthen the literacy skills of local children, youth, and women.

To create the center, the community redesigned a structure previously dedicated to equipment storage. The Creative Center is currently a multifunctional room that serves as a small library, a group workspace for children, and an area for members of local associations to lead various workshops. To ensure the center’s maintenance, two young people have assumed a managerial role to supervise its use. Both individuals are passionate about reading and expressed a sense of commitment during community meetings.
