Wongani Mwasinga holds a Bachelor of Science in Food Science and Technology from the Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources (LUANAR). She interned as the Project Coordinator at Savers From The Heart (SFTH). An NGO that deals with school feeding programs in rural areas. Before joining CorpsAfrica, Wongani worked as a government intern at Kamuzu Central Hospital (KCH) under the Nutrition Rehabilitation Unit (NRU) department. She is a Young African Leaders Initiative Regional Leadership Center Southern Africa (YALI RLC) alumni, where she was trained under Civic Engagement. In 2020, Wongani was a mentor under Project Kuongoza Women in Science Technology Engineering Mathematics innovation (STEMi), where she mentored five girls across Africa. She has a passion for community development as she founded an initiative where she trained girls on making reusable sanitary pads in Lilongwe and Ntchisi rural. She has volunteered for International Youth Alliance for Family Planning (IYAFP), where she advocated for the rights of youth to access Sexual Reproductive Health Services (SRHR). Wongani is a writer who believes in using storytelling to reach messages where verbal communication alone is not enough. She uses writing to enhance the reading culture in Malawi. Together with many other Malawian writers, she has co-authored a book called I Burnt My Suicide Note, which tackles Mental Health issues. Wongani’s short story “If I was Light skinned” was awarded third prize in the Makewana Daughters 2020 competition. Her works have also appeared in the Weekly Globe Newspaper, Trendy Magazine, Bunda Campus, Lockdown Diaries Blog, and St Kizito Church Newsletters.
