December 3 is #GivingTuesday: Support CorpsAfrica

Kenya

Founded in 2022, CorpsAfrica/Kenya welcomed 16 Kenyan and two Exchange Volunteers during its first year. With support from the Mastercard Foundation, CorpsAfrica/Kenya Volunteers live in various villages in Makueni, Machakos, Kitui, Narok, Kajiado, and Kiambu counties.

The agricultural sector plays a vital role in Kenya’s economy, contributing around 33 percent of the country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and employing 70 percent of the rural population. Enhancing agricultural productivity aids food security, youth unemployment, access to affordable healthcare, and the blue-collar economy, which serve as key focus areas for the nation and CorpsAfrica/Kenya communities and Volunteers.

In line with these priorities, Volunteers are trained to collaborate with communities in developing initiatives to enhance nutrition, establish microenterprises, implement water harvesting, and promote sustainable environmental practices.

Volunteer in Kenya

CorpsAfrica recruits ambitious young people to apply their education, build their critical thinking and problem-solving skills, and learn more about their countries and about themselves. They facilitate small-scale, high-impact projects identified by local community members, to fulfill key needs.

We expect to begin accepting applications for the next cohort in early 2025.

Support Our Work

CorpsAfrica addresses two of Africa’s most difficult challenges: creating opportunities for youth and helping rural communities overcome extreme poverty and build resilience. We recruit motivated volunteers to live and work in remote, low-income areas in their own countries. They collaborate with the community to design and implement small-scale projects that address their top priorities and by doing so gain the skills and experience that lay the foundation for personal and professional success.

CorpsAfrica trusts youth and rural communities to help each other.
