Marie Claire Mutuyimana was born and raised in Rwanda. She holds a bachelor’s degree in education and has a background in volunteering and education. Claire participated in various programs, including internships in Bugesera and multiple short courses on problem-solving, skills development, and community empowerment. She was trained by the AEGIS Trust on Peace and Values in education, with a focus on sustainable peace and inclusion. Claire also worked as a volunteer for the Rwanda Red Cross and played a role in student welfare during her high school years. In August 2022, Claire joined CorpsAfrica/Rwanda as a Volunteer in the Nyamagabe district. During her one-year service, she collaborated with the local community on a range of projects, including ICT skills training, water well construction, and initiatives to improve the community’s overall well-being. From May to August 2023, she relocated to Nyanza district, where she participated in LODA’s program aimed at helping local leaders and communities use available resources for sustainable development. Claire initiated projects such as savings groups, financial literacy, and farming to alleviate poverty and address social issues. In September 2023, she extended her service as a CorpsAfrica Volunteer in the Nyamagabe District for another year. Claire strongly believes in the active involvement of states, civil society, the private sector, and individual volunteers in eradicating poverty, echoing the words of Kofi Annan.
