Ulysse Uwayo was born and raised in the Western province of Rwanda. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Laboratory Sciences from INES Ruhengeri (Class of 2020). He completed high school at Petit Séminaire Saint-Pie X Nyundo in Mathematics, Biology, and Chemistry. By June 2021, Ulysse was fully registered professionally as Biomedical Laboratory Scientist in Rwanda. He completed internships at different Hospitals such as Kibagabaga District Hospital, Ruhengeri Referral Hospital, and Kigali University Teaching Hospital. Before his graduation, Ulysse worked at Rwanda Biomedical Center’s Department of National Reference Laboratory in partnership with CHAI for 3 months collecting data in highly remote health facilities for diagnostic network optimization. Prior to joining CorpsAfrica, he was the Head and Site Manager of Umuti Packaging, a green company that uses leftover banana and plantain trunks to create eco-friendly paper packaging. Through CorpsAfrica/Rwanda Ulysse expresses his eagerness and dedication to the service of volunteering: ”It’s not how much we give but how much love we put into giving”. -Mother Tereza
