Benjamin Rugira is a Liaison Officer at CorpsAfrica/Rwanda. Since 2021, He served as a CorpsAfrica volunteer in the second group. Benjamin holds a bachelor’s degree in Statistics Applied to Economy from Ruhengeri Institute of Higher Education (INES- Ruhengeri /Rwanda), class of 2018. He conducted internships in different institutions such as the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning of Rwanda (Minecofin), Musanze district, and DOT Rwanda. Benjamin participated in the training of international human rights instruments and advocacy strategies. He also participated in the training of Economic Policy Analysis and using Stata. He worked at Digital Opportunity Trust (DOT-RWANDA) as a digital ambassador, where his primary duties were to increase the number of digitally literate citizens by delivering digital literacy to the community he lived in through facilitation, forming digital clubs, and creating positive change. He also worked at a part-time job as a field enumerator at the Easter African Statistical Research and Consultancy (EASRC LTD). Benjamin worked as a data entry clerk at the African Evangelical Enterprise (AEE) / Twiyubake Program of USAID. Benjamin received a one-month fellowship of civic engagement issued by YALI, which enhanced his professional development, networking, and skills in engaging the community in developmental activities. He is a Digital Opportunity Trust Alumni, a member of the African Initiative for Mankind Progress Organization (AIMPO), a member of the Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) and a CorpsAfrica Alumni. ​During his volunteering service, Benjamin facilitated his community with many impactful activities. Guided by HCD and ABCD Approaches. He addressed different issues like malnutrition, hygiene, and sanitation. He raised funds for health insurance in groups, developed a community project which provided 122 pigs to 122 families, made a nutritious kitchen garden for every family, and brought back to school children that dropped out just to mention but a few.
