Chief Development Officer

M.K. has over two decades of senior executive nonprofit experience at local, national, and global levels. She is passionate about the transformative power of philanthropy and has collaborated with NGOs on strategic planning and aligning financial resources to support mission implementation. She recently served as the Senior Advisor for Global Development Chief Development Officer for Earthday.org’s 55th Anniversary. Previously, she was the Vice President of Development for Jesuit Refugee Service, an international humanitarian aid organization that provides education, mental health and psychosocial support, and livelihood programs in 58 countries worldwide. At the Annapolis Maritime Museum, she led fundraising and media campaigns that expanded award-winning environmental education programs and exhibits showcasing the maritime heritage of watermen. As a consultant, M.K. worked in the private sector on corporate social responsibility initiatives. She led a national media campaign for an NGO and produced a documentary. She began her career in public affairs with federal agencies, working on GSA’s Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act, the Presidential Task Force for People with Disabilities under the Clinton Administration, and NASA’s education programs, particularly the Earth as Art Campaign. For her work at NASA, she received Goddard’s Public Affairs Award and the USGS Shoemaker Award for Communications. M.K. holds a BA in Communications from Virginia Tech and an MA in International Relations from the Maxwell School at Syracuse University. She actively lectures on nonprofit best practices and is a member of Chief, the Women’s Foreign Policy Group, and the International Association of Fundraising Professionals in Washington, DC.
