In response to the longstanding lack of sanitation facilities and the health and dignity challenges caused by open defecation, the Gbabshei community partnered with CorpsAfrica and local volunteers to construct household latrines. This initiative, supported by community contributions of cash, labor, and materials, along with GH₵28,000 in funding from CorpsAfrica, enabled the completion of 20 biodigester latrines, benefiting 20 households—around 250 people.

The project provided safe, hygienic sanitation access and included training in biodigester construction, project planning, and handwashing techniques for sustainability. This effort is expected to significantly reduce open defecation, protect community dignity, and promote a cleaner environment that supports improved health and well-being for all 1,300 community members.
