Aikael Chikoko holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Food Security and Nutrition obtained from the University of Livingstonia, Laws Campus. While studying, she had the opportunity to intern at Rumphi District Hospital as a Nutrition Officer and this experience ignited her passion for combating malnutrition and ensuring food security for vulnerable populations. After graduating, she worked as a Nutrition Officer Intern at Kamuzu Central Hospital under the Government graduate internship program. She was responsible for assessing the nutrition status of under-fives, managing malnutrition treatment programs, and facilitating health talks as well as cooking demonstrations to promote nutritious meal preparation. Aikael has also worked as a School Environmental Worker at Flora Upper Secondary School in Norway through the exchange program facilitated by the Norwegian Agency for Exchange Cooperation (NOREC). While at the school, she worked on preparing nutritious meals for the students, coordinating Project Malawi activities (a student-run entrepreneurship initiative), and delivering English lessons to a diverse student body. While on her exchange, she volunteered at Sogn og Fjordane Red Cross family camps focusing on facilitating activities that emphasized social inclusion, coping strategies, strengthening family ties, and networking among families. Aikael also worked with Save the Children International as an enumerator for the Catch Up Club online survey that aimed at evaluating the project’s impact on participating students. Inspired by the projects previously implemented by CorpsAfrica Volunteers and the impact they have brought on the communities, she too decided to join the organization to help communities find solutions to their problems.
