Deborah Kankhomba is a Bachelor of Science in Transformative Community Development graduate from Mzuzu University (Mzuni) who is so passionate about improving the quality of lives of people in rural communities. After graduating, she worked with Partners in Action for Sustainable Development as an Education and Community Empowerment Officer, helping to uplift the quality of lives of women, youths, and children through educational interventions that promote equity in access and control over financial and natural resources, this is where the passion of serving marginalized groups grew since she witnessed firsthand how most women, youths, and others are victims of inequalities in a community setting. As an agent of change, she believes she will be of help in the community by empowering youths and women considering the economic status Malawi is currently in, this will help in improving food security and reducing the rates of malnutrition in households. This opportunity to work as a CorpsAfrica Volunteer will help her broaden her knowledge in Community Development, and how she can apply HCD/ABCD in community initiatives to reduce the dependency syndrome and enhance the sustainability of projects the experience will also improve her communication and project management skills which will help me in achieving my future goals in life.
