Harrison holds a Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition and Food Science from LUANAR. Through his studies, he gained knowledge and skills in various aspects including food product development and processing, project management, and monitoring and evaluation. Before CorpsAfrica, Harrison was volunteering with the Development Network for Youth Employment, a youth-led organization based in the Machinga district as a Monitoring and Evaluation Officer. Using his knowledge and skills in writing funding proposals, Harrison became a great asset in mobilizing external funds to implement community-led development. Some notable projects Harrison contributed to include the construction of Nampeya Day Secondary School in Machinga funded by World Connect Malawi, and the development of the Njoyako Digital Health application with USAID funding through Palladium under the Momentum Tiyeni Project. These efforts were solely made to enhance livelihoods in rural areas. He is also a Global South Coalition for Dignified Menstruation alumnus, where he facilitated training for adolescent girls and young women on making reusable sanitary pads to fight period poverty, which has hurt school attendance. Meanwhile, as a passionate young leader, he empowered youth economically with Gender Action Learning Systems (GALS) and Positive Youth Development (PYD), a methodology that encompasses vision journey development, cash flow analysis, leadership empowerment map, and Gender Balance Tree through the support of Propel Health Malawi. Harrison has participated in volunteer work in efforts towards Malawi Vision 2063, and with CorpsAfrica, he hopes to facilitate more positive change in rural communities.
