Horencio Mpekansambo is an agroforestry and climate justice advocate with a strong academic background. He completed his studies at the Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources, where he pursued a Bachelor of Science in Agroforestry, thereby developing a deep understanding and passion for conservative agriculture and climate change. He has experience in stationery work as he worked at a stationery shop in 2022. In 2023, he also worked at the Regional Forestry Offices in Lilongwe for 3 months for his attachments. In college, Horencio demonstrated his leadership skills by serving as the chair of the Bunda Forestry Association. In his role, he organized various initiatives with communities surrounding Bunda to promote environmental awareness and engage youth in sustainable forestry practices. He has also participated in most climate-issue events that involved community outreach programs to raise awareness about the importance of sustainable land use and climate action. His goal is to see more people getting involved in landscape restoration. He has been an active participant in the Global Landscape Forum (GLF), where he participated in the Climate Solutions We Forgot 2023, GLF Nairobi 2023 Hybrid Conference, and GLF Peatlands 2024 Hybrid Conference. Additionally, Horencio is committed to service. He volunteered during the under-5 polio campaign, contributing to the control of this disease. His involvement in this campaign highlights his dedication to the immersing support in improving public health and well-being. He believes his service as a CorpsAfrica Volunteer will help promote conservative agriculture and landscape restoration in local communities.
