Andrew Mtonga is a community development enthusiast with a passion for working with a team to improve the welfare of the people and contribute to making the world a better place. He holds a Bachelor of Arts (Humanities) majoring in Philosophy and Psychology from the University of Malawi. Andrew has a work experience of more than three years having worked with Radio Maria Malawi as a Data Officer thereby assisting the institution with resource mobilization initiatives through the Department of Promotion and Marketing. Andrew has also experience in community development having volunteered with Mulanje Elderly Community Care as Resource Mobilization Officer. Among others, he steered the organization in fundraising and project proposal initiatives to accumulate resources for assisting the underprivileged elderly men and women around the Mulanje community. Through this volunteer service, Andrew experienced personal growth and enjoyed the intrinsic feeling of having made an impact in peoples’ lives Andrew also contributes to the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by actively participating in Education and Youth Development. He volunteered to teach at Chisomo Private Secondary to get professional experience as well as assist the youths. He also worked with UNIMA-YONECO in raising awareness of girls’ Human rights and Reproductive Health. Having outlined the attributes and experiences, I believe that my experience with CorpsAfrica/ Malawi has allowed me to grow personally and professionally. Furthermore, the training I have received during the PST period has prepared me well to serve my community with dignity and impact by developing me with the necessary knowledge and skills. I am eager to learn more through community experience and subsequent training.
