Etta Phiri is a journalist by profession obtained from Malawi Institute of Journalism (MIJ) she is passionate about empowering youth through journalism and she conducted radio programs on media literacy. When reporting, she enjoys reading and exploring Malawi’s vibrant culture. Etta was once a Freelance Reporter at MIJ FM radio, Blantyre– from April 2022 to July 2022 and she also volunteered at Kasungu radio from November 2022 to February 2023, she has mobilized youths through the program of Tingathe to be economically empowered. She is a certified of coding trained by UN women under Girls Can Code Malawi, and she has experience in data collection under the plan Malawi from March to June 2023 project of KUUWA. Etta being a young Malawian who was born in a rural area knows the problems and challenges people in rural areas encounter. This will help her to build empathy in conversations. Her service as a CorpsAfrica Volunteer will help to empower young women and girls in Malawi, she will make women voice out for any abuse happening in the community and mobilize girls to back to school after delivery.
