Kidist Asrat Degif is a dynamic public health professional with an unwavering passion for improving community well-being and environmental health across Africa. With a Master of Public Health in Environmental Health from the University of Gondar and dual Bachelor’s degrees in Environmental and Occupational Health and Safety, and Management, Kidist brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to her role as a CorpsAfrica Volunteer.
Driven by a deep commitment to making a lasting impact, Kidist has worked as an Environmental Health and Safety Officer at Larsen and Toubro Limited, where she played a crucial role in ensuring workplace safety and environmental compliance on large-scale construction projects. Her dedication to enhancing public health is further exemplified through her role as a WASH Officer at NALA Foundation, where she promoted vital water, sanitation, and hygiene practices to improve health outcomes in underserved communities.
Beyond her technical expertise, Kidist is a natural leader and effective communicator. As President of the Environmental and Occupational Health and Safety Student Association at the University of Gondar, she led initiatives that not only advanced the profession but also empowered her peers to take an active role in community development. Her leadership extended to her involvement in multiple charity organizations, including the Agape Charity Association and Sanita Charity Association, where she has consistently demonstrated her commitment to service and social responsibility.
