Project Overview

It has been a significant challenge for the people of Baglahi to access potable water for over two decades. The community has relied solely on a dam that does not provide water consistently throughout the year, often requiring residents to walk 1.5 to 2 hours to reach the nearest water source.

The installation of water storage tanks will address this issue by providing residents with access to clean and safe drinking water. This initiative is expected to have a positive impact on the health, well-being, and overall productivity of the community.

Baglahi is a community of over 1240 individuals who have lacked access to clean and safe drinking water for the past two decades. The residents have been relying on surface water from an intermittent dam, leading to health and well-being challenges due to a 1.5 to 2-hour journey to collect water. To address this critical issue, the community has taken the initiative and installed water storage tanks.

This water installation provides the community with access to potable water from the Ghana Water Company and private water suppliers delivered by water tankers. Residents pay a fee for utilizing the facility, which includes the costs for refilling and maintenance.

The program has facilitated the implementation of infrastructure that ensures the provision of potable water, leading to significant improvements in community health and overall well-being.

Project Highlights

  • The community of Baglahi, with over 1,240 residents, has struggled with access to potable water for over two decades, relying on an intermittent dam.

  • Residents previously walked 1.5 to 2 hours to the nearest water source, impacting their health and well-being.

  • The installation of water storage tanks now provides consistent access to clean water, improving health and productivity while addressing long-standing water access challenges.
