Mengesha Nigussie, originally from the North Shewa Zone in Ethiopia’s Amhara region, earned his Bachelor’s degree in Agribusiness and Value Chain Management from Arba Minch University in 2021. His commitment to community service and sustainable development has been a driving force throughout his career. Mengesha has actively contributed as a National Volunteer in Ethiopia, engaging in various environmental and community-focused initiatives such as road and school compound cleaning, blood donation drives, and tree planting. His work also includes motivational efforts aimed at underserved communities. He played a pivotal role in facilitating the 5th and 6th National Volunteer Training Programs at Jimma and Wolayta Sodo Universities. These programs focused on enhancing knowledge, skills, and capacities in areas including life skills, leadership, civic rights, social virtues, peace fundamentals, and nation-building. Additionally, Mengesha has facilitated national volunteer programs in the Amhara region’s South Wollo Zone, where he successfully coordinated with local officials, planned activities, and motivated volunteers to serve their communities. In 2024, Mengesha expanded his impact through an internship with the Kefeta Project at the Youth and Cultural Development Foundation in the Hawassa Sidama Region. Here, he focused on imparting soft skills, entrepreneurship, business skills, and effective work habits to youth. Currently, Mengesha is serving as a 2nd cohort Volunteer at CorpsAfrica/Ethiopia, where he continues his passion for fostering sustainable community development.
