Jean Pierre Nzabandora was born in Rwanda. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Geography with a focus on Urban and Regional Planning from the class of 2023, obtained from the College of Science and Technology (CST). During his studies in 2022, he served as a Production Officer in the Geography Student Association Rwanda (GEOSAR), where he focused on the significant role of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Remote Sensing (RS) in the contemporary world of data-driven decision-making across various economic sectors. In addition, he volunteered during the COVID-19 pandemic, actively participating in on-site mobilization efforts. He also served as a first aid volunteer, participating in campaigns such as blood donation drives and providing first aid during Emergency and Disaster Management both on and off campus. Furthermore, he completed an academic internship in the Nyarugenge District’s Department of Infrastructure, gaining valuable insights into how integrated planning is carried out on both small and large scales with the assistance of Geographic Information System (GIS) and Remote Sensing (RS). Before joining Corps Africa/Rwanda, he provided Irembo service at the Gisozi Center. He believes that being a Corps Africa Volunteer has had significant personal meaning for him, as their approaches align with his ambitions of making a positive impact on vulnerable communities and families. He asserts that sustainable development cannot be achieved unless rural and vulnerable communities are facilitated and empowered. He also holds the belief that development begins at the individual level. This is why his passion for volunteering revolves around facilitating and empowering rural communities.
